Update on progress

Hello Backers!! 

I hope you all are doing well this holiday season. I apologize for not making this update sooner. I had hoped to, but we had several things up in the air that I were hoping would settle before I wrote this. We got our sample the first week of this month, and I can say the quality is amazing!! We are incredibly happy with the quality of the clear sleeves and the cards. They are actually slightly higher quality than our samples we were bringing to conventions. The box in particular is a lot sturdier and reinforced compared to the demo copies. However, the colors were muted compared to the demo, and we wanted the box slightly larger to comfortably fit the sleeved cards. So back to the drawing board. Our graphic designer got the colors figured out. It was due to file converting for the manufacturer. We figured it out, and are awaiting the second sample. 

The delay in an update was because I wanted to tell you guys when the order had been placed. Unfortunately, several formatting and file issues piled up, and even though our graphic designer had it as his priority, the manufacturer wasn't ready to get a second sample until this Monday. So we are a bit delayed due to that, which is incredibly disappointing. That being said, we are having everyone's pledges air shipped, which should help the timeline considerably. We are still waiting to hear how all this affects our dates. I will update you guys as soon as we know. That is bad news, but rest assured that our game is looking phenomenal!! We just want to put in the extra effort to make sure our quality meets our standards.

Anyone that has not finished their surveys by the 1st can still get their reward, but it may arrive later than the first wave of shipments. We hope you're all in good spirits. While we're eagerly awaiting the arrival of our samples, our enthusiasm to kick off Pocket Samurai's production knows no bounds. Today, we'd like to send out a friendly reminder: our late pledge deadline is fast approaching on 11/01, which is just a little over a week away! This is your last chance to secure your spot in the first wave of orders, and it's crucial for us to have accurate numbers to ensure a smooth production process. 

With this in mind, it's important to note that after 11/06/2023, we'll need to consider refund requests due to shipping on a case-by-case basis. We're doing our utmost to make Pocket Samurai a reality, and we hope you're as excited as we are to embark on this incredible journey. Thank you for your unwavering support!

Progress, Bushido Tier update, and late pledge deadline

Hello Backers! I hope you are all doing well. We would like to reach out to you guys and let you know where we are in development. We had a bit of a delay with graphic design, but we are now able to order our samples. We’ve got two manufacturers we are getting samples from and should have a final decision made by November 1st. With this, we are hoping we will be able to make our goal of getting the game to you guys by the end of the year.

For Bushido tier backers, we discussed it, and we understand that you may need to play the game a bit before you make your decision as to what card you want to make. So, we will be giving you as much time as you need to make a card. Once we get your custom card idea and picture, we will start making it for you. Once we have it produced, we will ship it to you. Shipping costs will not be increased for this.

Finally, we have about 100 Kickstarter backers that haven't finished Backerkit's survey. We will need that filled out to be able to get everyone their pledges on time. In order to make sure we are keeping up with our timeline, we will keep Backerkit open until November 1st. After this, if a Kickstarter backer still wants their pledge, we will have to figure out another way of getting shipping, and it might delay when you will get your packages.

We cannot wait to get our game out into the world! Every day that passes brings us closer to realizing that goal. Thanks again to all our supporters. This has been an amazing experience!

International Shipping and refunds

Hello backers!

I am writing this post to address the shipping prices for our international backers. We did not know exactly how expensive shipping internationally would be, but knew it would be more expensive. This is why we made sure to mention it in our risks and challenges. That being said, we are also pretty shocked to see just how expensive it can be. 

Many Kickstarter projects could eat some of the shipping with their margins on their games. Unfortunately, we cannot do that due to the nature of shipping and the cost of our game. The reason the shipping seems like a lot is the same reason we can't offer it for less expense: our game is cheap. We don't have the cushion many other projects have. 

Still, it does feel bad to have to charge the shipping we are to international backers. We understand that it can double or even triple the price of the Kickstarter. We are sorry for not having the numbers lined up during the campaign. We will strive to make it a practice moving forward. We don't want our backers feeling like they got tricked or stuck with a game that costs far more than they intended to purchase it for. Thus, we are going to offer full refunds to anyone who would like them due to high shipping. Full refunds will effectively cancel your pledge.  If you would like one, just send us a message or email [email protected]. Thanks again for all of your support and understanding!
